Statelines EP – Dylan Jakobsen

Statelines EP - Dylan Jakobsen

Dylan Jakobsen , an alternative country artist is just starting to break the mold and hit the surface of the music scene. Working in the music world for around two years Dylan has shared the stage with many other amazing artists. These artists include : Boys Likes Girls, This Providence, The Maine, Parachute, and many more. Recently Dylan released a four track EP called “Statelines” . Track after track Dylan keeps the music and vocals upbeat. Vocals may get softer, but that just makes Dylan’s voice that much more soothing. One track even features Josh Withenshaw formerly of Every Avenue. You don’t want to miss this, pick it up here : http://noisetrade.com/dylanjakobsenmusic/statelines-ep

Along For The Ride – Rookie Of The Year

Along For The Ride - Rookie Of The Year

Rookie Of The Year is an acoustic-pop band from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Singer/songwriter Ryan Dunson is the only official member of the band, but ROTY also consists of live members with a lineup that changes every so often. The band’s second EP titled “Along For The Ride” was released on January 11th, 2012. Here is a track-by-track breakdown of the newest music from Rookie Of The Year:

1.) Chase – great opening track, it is fast-paced and fun
2.) Light Years Away – the vocals are really nice, the song has a sweet and slower feel to it, there was a nice instrumental bridge towards the end
3.) Dallas – the intro and outro to this song are great, the standout lyrics for me are “you’re my only drug, girl; take too much and you’ll die in love”, it is a slow, sad song about love and loss, I feel like it would be a great track to see a live performance of
4.) Silent Words – this is a beautifully simple interlude, I love the use of piano that fades into guitar that then fades into strings, it’s a sweet blend of instruments and sound
5.) Tonight – this song paints a really good picture of heartbreak, the lyrics are pretty catchy, this was my favorite song off of the EP
6.) Diamond Lights – this is a piano driven song, the vocals are sweet and soft, the lyrics that most caught my attention were “find your way out, let light back in”
7.) Runaway – It has a lovely feel, the difference in the way the guitar is played is fabulous, it is a fun, hopeful love track, it definitely connects with the teenager inside of me
8.) Don’t Tear Me Apart – this track is a bit different from the rest of the EP, the vocals sound different yet intriguing.
9.) Light Years Away (Full Band) – adding more instruments to this song definitely gave it a whole different feel, I believe that it takes away the rawness and honesty of the acoustic version and the instruments tend overpower the vocals, especially during the chorus. I guess you could saw I’m a sucker for an acoustic song.

The Resolution Tour : January 5th New York City Review

The Resolution Tour : January 5th New York City Review

To start off the night opening act Deleasa hyped up the crowd and completely rocked the stage. I have heard about him quite a few times before this and was thrilled to finally be able to see him perform live.  Soon after Mikey’s set word around the venue was that Kevin & Danielle Jonas showed up to support their brother/ brother-in-law. Sure enough they did.

Next up was Hello Highway, after following Daniel for 9 months prior to being able to see him perform live I was very excited to catch his set. For this tour his friends in Fourth and Coast were his back up band, and in all honesty I couldn’t be any more proud of how Daniel has grown as a musician.

After that Before You Exit, the youngest band on the tour hits the stage. For a group of teenagers in the music scene they definitely have a good grip on what they’re meant to be doing.  The boys in BYE make sure they have the whole crowd singing along for at least one song . I’m pretty sure ” End Of The World” and it’s “na na na na na’s” catch everyone’s attention.

I’ve been following Paradise Fears since early 2010, from following tours of bands they idolize to actually touring with said bands. I can’t even imagine what that success feels like to them, in my eyes I have never been more proud of these six guys from South Dakota. As Paradise Fears takes the stage emotions build up and by the time the sing “Sanctuary” everyone is crying happy tears. The stage presence of Paradise Fears is incredible.

Last, but most certainly never least : Action Item takes the stage, I can’t help but get chills. In April of 2010 I interview the guys and they said they’re ” a long way away from having our own headlining tour” and here they are on the stage in front of me playing a sold out New York City show on their second headlining tour. If that’s not success then I don’t know what is.  I’d have to admit Action Item’s stage presence has improved since early ’10 and is the best I’ve ever seen. They played a set of 10-12 songs, including some covers, as well as a special guest during Marching Band.

Each band on the Resolution tour performs with so much heart. I highly suggest making it out to a Deleasa, Hello Highway, Fourth and Coast, Before You Exit, Paradise Fears and Action Item show in the near future, or whenever they’re in you’re area. It’ll give you a feeling of happiness I can’t put into words.

Forget Me In Vegas “Coulda Shoulda” Review

Forget Me In Vegas is a pop-rock band from Rochester New York. Members including Vocalist : Chris Wurzburg, Guitarist : Jamie Okrzynski & Drummer : Joe Raymond. Recently releasing their sophomore EP “Coulda Shoulda” consisting of 5 songs available for free download on their band camp page. Here’s our track by track break down : 1.) Destined To Fall – starts off with a super catchy pop intro, going into to telling what seems to be a love story. Through out the song FMIV still keeps up energy/ catchy beat that makes me want to dance immediately. 2.) High – Seems to be the perfect song to get anyone excited for summer, or a party of some sorts. 3.) Let’s Leave, No Words – Slowing it down a little bit, yet still keeping up with their bands energy. Break up song of the EP maybe ? I’ll have to ask ! 4.) Could’ve* Should’ve* – For sure one of my favorites, mostly cause I could relate to what they’re singing about. 5.) You and I ft Red Rabbit – Red Rabbit’s voice is different from usual, but if you ask me it fits perfectly with the song. For the EP as a whole if All Time Low, and older Paradise Fears had a musical baby Forget Me In Vegas would be it!
