Written Interview with Mat Moore of Aaah! Real Monsters

Where did the band name originate from ?

We all grew up in the nineties watching cartoons, and the band name to me means never grow up. Embrace your inner cartoon watching kid.

For those who never heard of  Aaah!RealMonsters, what song do you recommend they listen to ?

I would recommend listening to good riddance, it really showcases our pop punk sound and once we re-record it as part of our next EP, it will have those three part harmonies you can’t get enough of!

What is your inspiration to continue making music ?

Music is the only thing that makes sense in this ever changing world of ours. Creating new music is the best release from everyday stress and lets you escape.

Is your song writing process a team effort or more so one person ?

The fact that most of us are hundreds of miles apart means that it’s individual at first, but with technology advancing so fast, we’re able to share ideas online, then making it a team effort.

what is your favorite song to perform live ?

Personally my favorite song would have to be seconds away or Colorado, they’re faster paced, more pop punk, and lots of fun to jump around to

What bands does your dream tour consist of ?

Us opening for Major League opening for Real Friends opening for The Wonder Years.

When can we expect new music ?

Very soon! We’re getting back into the studio in the next month or two to finish the second part of our 3-part EP called Don’t Quit Your Day Jobs. This next one will be Your Day.

Is touring in the near future ?

Also yes! We’re working on setting up a mini summer tour through the heart of the country! Keep your ears open for news soon!

Southerland Nights written Interview

Southerland Nights written Interview

Hey! It’s Adam and thank you to The Camera Affect for doing this interview, I really appreciate it.

I sing, play guitar, and help write songs in the band.

– At what age did you get into music, and what inspired you to do so?

I’ve been listening to music ever since I can remember and it wasn’t by choice, nursery rhymes and being forced to listen what my parents did for a long time. I got exposed to rap and trance music in elementary school and that’s pretty much what I listened to for a long time. I had a friend who exposed me to Linkin Park, Korn, Sum 41, Slipknot, and blink-182 in middle school. My mind exploded I was like “woah these songs really speak to me, so many songs about mean girls who don’t want to date nice guys, I can totally relate to this!”. I saw Mick Thompson (from Slipknot) with a BC Rich Warlock, and I simply thought that was the coolest looking guitar on earth, this was before I ever actually played one. I met Andy and he got me started on playing guitar and then we just went from there.

– What is the meaning behind the band name?

Andy and I used to play in bands with some friends on a street called Southerland Way, the name is an homage to all the crazy nights we had partying, jamming, and hanging out.

– What has the feedback for your song ” Here I am’ been like ?

Honestly, so far it’s been nothing but positive, which has been a total shock for me. Our first song was very dark and then this song is so different in every way, so I wasn’t sure how people would respond. I’m very happy to how it’s been so far.

– Who would be included on your dream tour?

I would love to tour with AFI, Marilyn Manson, Muse, Enter Shikari, Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars, and even if we weren’t included in that lineup, I would kill to see that show.

– Who are your biggest musical influences?

There are so many, it changes all the time, it depends on my mood I guess, different artists influence me in different times of my life. Overall I’d say The Cure, Goo Goo Dolls, and Muse.

– What is your best advice for an artist just starting out?

Haha, don’t take advice from an artist just starting out, seriously we’re in the same boat here. I guess if it means anything coming from me, just work really hard and be prepared to sacrifice everything for your dreams, I sure have.

– If you could change one thing about the world what would it be and why?

Oh that’s a tough one, if I had to pick one… world hunger, and I don’t mean that in a cliché way or anything I just find it unsettling that people die everyday simply from not having enough to eat. I really want to do something about it when I have the resources to help.

– Can you tell us a little about your writing process, song inspiration etc

I wish I had a process, haha it’s very organic. Things kind of manifest themselves over time. I’ll start with a lyric, chord, riff, or anything really and the rest follows in time. Every song has a different story and takes us on a different path to complete it.

– What can we expect this coming year from Southerland Nights?

Well, in October we have our debut EP coming out on the 18th, not to mention we’ll be playing our first show in Houston on the 25th, and then we go on tour next year starting in January!

– Lastly, shout out to your fans. ( Links to how they can all contact you)

Thank you for reading this, you guys know the band and I love you very much, and that you are our family. Keep on believing in us and yourselves.

written Interview with Kris of Upon Thrones

Promo_Pack_Graphics Hey, this is Kris from Upon Thrones and you’re tuned into the Camera Affect Promotions. I’m not looking human enough to be filmed right now so I’ve resorted to an old fashioned email.

Name & instrument(s) you play ?

I sing and play bass guitar (don’t usually mention that as no one really cares)

At what age did you get into music ?  I started playing bass at the age of 14, jamming out to old Rage Against The Machine records. I only started singing a year ago, and still have a long way to progress but it feels natural for me to do so in the band, and it gives me a voice to express a lot of things I wouldn’t feel comfortable talking about.

Celebrity crush ? It’s a close call between Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and Winona Ryder (Alien Resurrection).

Who/what is your inspiration to play music ? My Idol is Dallas Green. I have been singing his songs every day for a long time as they give me a huge sense of joy and inspiration. Like many others, I didn’t have the greatest child hood, and I was brought up through a lot of horrific events. Every lyrics I write is a reflection of what I have felt and seen over the past 6 years and tells a story that I hope will offer comfort to those who had similar experiences.

Most memorable show ? I wish we had one ! We haven’t played a show yet seeing as the band only officially started December 2012, BUT I am working on booking as many shows as I can across the UK. We want to play everywhere and anywhere, and wouldn’t say no to anyone lending a hand to getting us up on a stage in their town.

What is one state/country you would really like to play a show inWe would love to tour the States, so many great bands that gave us a reason to start doing we do come from the US, and it would be an honour to play alongside them one day

Describe yourself in one word ? Me? Crazy. The band? Groove-core

If you could change one thing about the world ; what would it be ?

I guess this is where people expect some sort of moral or political or even environmental statement, but I would love to change how online promoters work with bands. We all know of one that will charge you so you can be put on a ‘ladder’ or feature on their page, but that doesn’t really help bands at all. There are so many great artists out there who are working hard to be heard, and they deserve to be. There needs to be more coverage and exposure of what bands do, especially if they are parting with hard earned cash to get them selves noticed.

Upcoming tours/shows ?

If anyone wants to book us hit us up @ upon_thrones@live.co.uk

How can fans contact you ?  www.facebook.com/UponThrones

If you could have one super power, what would it be & why ?

I would want to fly. It’s simple, yet eloquent. Not to mention cost effective travel. And what girl doesn’t want to fly? 😉

lastly, what do you have to say to your fans ?

We hope you enjoy our music and keep in touch as we have some great things planned for this year. We would appreciate any support you can give to reach more people and help us build a fan base. You will be rewarded in more music, videos and merch !
