Hey, this is Kris from Upon Thrones and you’re tuned into the Camera Affect Promotions. I’m not looking human enough to be filmed right now so I’ve resorted to an old fashioned email.
Name & instrument(s) you play ?
I sing and play bass guitar (don’t usually mention that as no one really cares)
At what age did you get into music ? I started playing bass at the age of 14, jamming out to old Rage Against The Machine records. I only started singing a year ago, and still have a long way to progress but it feels natural for me to do so in the band, and it gives me a voice to express a lot of things I wouldn’t feel comfortable talking about.
Celebrity crush ? It’s a close call between Rooney Mara (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) and Winona Ryder (Alien Resurrection).
Who/what is your inspiration to play music ? My Idol is Dallas Green. I have been singing his songs every day for a long time as they give me a huge sense of joy and inspiration. Like many others, I didn’t have the greatest child hood, and I was brought up through a lot of horrific events. Every lyrics I write is a reflection of what I have felt and seen over the past 6 years and tells a story that I hope will offer comfort to those who had similar experiences.
Most memorable show ? I wish we had one ! We haven’t played a show yet seeing as the band only officially started December 2012, BUT I am working on booking as many shows as I can across the UK. We want to play everywhere and anywhere, and wouldn’t say no to anyone lending a hand to getting us up on a stage in their town.
What is one state/country you would really like to play a show in ? We would love to tour the States, so many great bands that gave us a reason to start doing we do come from the US, and it would be an honour to play alongside them one day
Describe yourself in one word ? Me? Crazy. The band? Groove-core
If you could change one thing about the world ; what would it be ?
I guess this is where people expect some sort of moral or political or even environmental statement, but I would love to change how online promoters work with bands. We all know of one that will charge you so you can be put on a ‘ladder’ or feature on their page, but that doesn’t really help bands at all. There are so many great artists out there who are working hard to be heard, and they deserve to be. There needs to be more coverage and exposure of what bands do, especially if they are parting with hard earned cash to get them selves noticed.

If you could have one super power, what would it be & why ?
I would want to fly. It’s simple, yet eloquent. Not to mention cost effective travel. And what girl doesn’t want to fly? 😉
