This photo just goes to show you that for everyone, musicians and fans alike little moments mean everything and more.

“Hey everyone, I wanted to post this because it made me feel great to see how happy I’d made someone. This is a picture of me and Miranda Morgan slow dancing at our show in Baltimore. After I complimented the dress she was wearing she expressed to me that it was a prom dress despite the fact that she’d been home-schooled and never had the opportunity to attend a prom or a Homecoming Dance. She went on to say that she’d much rather go to clubs and see her favorite bands than “do all that silly stuff anyway.” This struck a chord with me because, I was never home-schooled but, I sure as hell never got asked or had the opportunity to go to a school dance either. Miranda is an extremely sweet girl and I felt she deserved a slow dance, right there in the middle of the venue. ” – Bret : The Relapse Symphony

“This was probably the sweetest thing ever. Bret complimented my dress. I told him it was a prom dress and explained to him how I was home-schooled through high school and had never had the chance to go to prom or homecoming. I told him I’d rather put on a pretty dress and go see amazing bands play rather than go to a silly school dance anyway. He said “Let’s slow dance, You deserve it.” and we began dancing in the middle of the venue. Obviously by my smile I was loving every minute of it. The world needs more people like him. ” – Miranda Morgan

Southerland Nights written Interview

Southerland Nights written Interview

Hey! It’s Adam and thank you to The Camera Affect for doing this interview, I really appreciate it.

I sing, play guitar, and help write songs in the band.

– At what age did you get into music, and what inspired you to do so?

I’ve been listening to music ever since I can remember and it wasn’t by choice, nursery rhymes and being forced to listen what my parents did for a long time. I got exposed to rap and trance music in elementary school and that’s pretty much what I listened to for a long time. I had a friend who exposed me to Linkin Park, Korn, Sum 41, Slipknot, and blink-182 in middle school. My mind exploded I was like “woah these songs really speak to me, so many songs about mean girls who don’t want to date nice guys, I can totally relate to this!”. I saw Mick Thompson (from Slipknot) with a BC Rich Warlock, and I simply thought that was the coolest looking guitar on earth, this was before I ever actually played one. I met Andy and he got me started on playing guitar and then we just went from there.

– What is the meaning behind the band name?

Andy and I used to play in bands with some friends on a street called Southerland Way, the name is an homage to all the crazy nights we had partying, jamming, and hanging out.

– What has the feedback for your song ” Here I am’ been like ?

Honestly, so far it’s been nothing but positive, which has been a total shock for me. Our first song was very dark and then this song is so different in every way, so I wasn’t sure how people would respond. I’m very happy to how it’s been so far.

– Who would be included on your dream tour?

I would love to tour with AFI, Marilyn Manson, Muse, Enter Shikari, Linkin Park, 30 Seconds to Mars, and even if we weren’t included in that lineup, I would kill to see that show.

– Who are your biggest musical influences?

There are so many, it changes all the time, it depends on my mood I guess, different artists influence me in different times of my life. Overall I’d say The Cure, Goo Goo Dolls, and Muse.

– What is your best advice for an artist just starting out?

Haha, don’t take advice from an artist just starting out, seriously we’re in the same boat here. I guess if it means anything coming from me, just work really hard and be prepared to sacrifice everything for your dreams, I sure have.

– If you could change one thing about the world what would it be and why?

Oh that’s a tough one, if I had to pick one… world hunger, and I don’t mean that in a cliché way or anything I just find it unsettling that people die everyday simply from not having enough to eat. I really want to do something about it when I have the resources to help.

– Can you tell us a little about your writing process, song inspiration etc

I wish I had a process, haha it’s very organic. Things kind of manifest themselves over time. I’ll start with a lyric, chord, riff, or anything really and the rest follows in time. Every song has a different story and takes us on a different path to complete it.

– What can we expect this coming year from Southerland Nights?

Well, in October we have our debut EP coming out on the 18th, not to mention we’ll be playing our first show in Houston on the 25th, and then we go on tour next year starting in January!

– Lastly, shout out to your fans. ( Links to how they can all contact you)

Written Interview with Anthony Rainville of The Press War

– At what age did you get into music, and what inspired you to do so?
I got into music at a very young age as both my parents are musicians and performers. It was something that was constantly around me growing up so it was really natural for me to get into. I definitely remember hearing the album “Losing Streak” by Less Than Jake for the first time and being so floored that I wanted to write music just so I could attempt to re-create the sounds I was hearing in my headphones. That was the exact moment I decided I wanted to be in a band.

– What is the meaning behind the band name?
The Press War is the name of a song by a band called You Me and Everyone We Know that a few of us are really big fans of.

– In July you released the music video for “Only You” , how has the fan response been?
So far the response to the video and the album has been really positive. We’re really stoked that people seem to like it and we’re very thankful to everyone who’s shared it and helped us gain new fans!

– Who would be included on your dream tour?
Brand New, Jimmy Eat World, Blink 182.

– Who are your biggest musical influences?
Brand New, Jimmy Eat World, Blink 182, Third Eye Blind, and I’m also really digging The Story So Far and The 1975.

– What is your best advice for an artist just starting out?
The best advice I can give is to really focus on writing the best songs you possibly can and then recording a few of them with the best quality you can afford. Make an EP you’re proud to show people and always show them a finished product, especially industry. Always give them the best version of yourself because first impressions can count for a lot. Lastly, remember that sometimes all it takes is one person to believe in what you’re doing and if you really want this to be your life, don’t ever give up.

– If you could change one thing about the world what would it be and why?
That’s a tough one, if I could change one thing I would want people to be more accepting and loving of people that are different than them. We’ve had a long history of fearing and hating things that are different and that we don’t fully understand. I hope we can keep making progress towards love and acceptance of everyone.

– What can we expect this coming year from The Press War?
Lots of things! We’re going to finish out the year with some more shows and then we’re gonna write and record a new EP which, with any luck, will be out by Spring or Summer of 2014.

– Lastly, shout out to your fans. ( Links to how they can all contact you)
Thanks so much to everyone who’s taken the time to check us out, made it to a show, or supported us in any way! We can’t be a band without you guys so thank you again!
