“Starting as an outlet to express the emotional hardship of his mother’s battle with breast cancer, Christopher John has made it habit of developing an honest story into every one of his songs. At 15 Christopher John, New York native, received the Acoustic Hero Singer/Songwriter Crowd Vote Award by Emergenza in the nationwide final round at the sold out Bitter End in Manhattan, NY. From here he went on to record his first 5-song EP with his duet partner Jodi at Sabella Studios with award-winning producer Jim Sabella.

Over the past 7 years Christopher John was the front man for bands ranging from the pop-punk quartets Table 21 and Stick to the Plan, to pop-electro trio Pretty Boy Beatdown, but has always held true to his solo career writing, producing, and playing his own songs. In the summer/fall of 2010 Christopher John played a range of shows in the northeast ranging from house parties in Pennsylvania, to The Space in CT, to Ground Zero in NH, as well as plenty of hometown shows in NY.

The diversity of projects Christopher has been a part of shines through in his latest EP entitled “I Know Who My Friends Are”. Written by Christopher John, produced and recorded with Dave Suchmann and Michael Bona at The Music Palace, and professionally mastered by Fred Kevorkian at Avatar Studios in New York City, this 5-song EP packs a punch, draws out a smile, and will have you singing along in minutes. With catchy melodies, heart-pounding choruses, and a production that will have you remembering that people and instruments are used to make music, in an age where synths and one-hit-wonders plague the radio, Christopher John strives to stand center stage, stand out, and stick around for a while. Keep your eyes out, ears open, and dare to ask, do you know who your friends are?”

We have yet to see Christopher John live, but from what we have heard/seen thanks to the internet we are able to see that he’s a very honest and talented artist. His song are very heartfelt, but he’ll still have you dancing and singing along at a show. He’s in Hawaii for school at the moment which is amazing, and I’ve heard he’s having a great time. Next week we’ll be catching up with Christopher John via video interview, so be sure to comment/tweet your questions to @TheCameraAffect.

December: Set It Off

“In the past year, the Tampa Florida based band released their second EP, Calm Before the Storm; played the Warped Tour; racked up nearly a dozen endorsements and were featured on Friends Or Enemies and in Alternative Press and Substream magazines. They are tireless performers, racking up some 200 gigs on a more than 10 tours since July 2008; racking past 80,000 miles on their van and even more voracious self-promoters, always looking for ways to connect with their many fans online and in person. They know the fans are what drives their career, so they do as much as possible to interact with them.”

Set It Off always puts on a fantastic performance and always so kind to their fans! If they are ever in your area, be sure to go to their show!

August: It’s Not Over

The band “It’s Not Over” was founded in October of 2006 by guitarist/vocalist, Michael Giordano, and drummer, Matt Cabello in Staten Island, New York and later, Josh Crono( 2009) on Guitar. The Pop/Punk group sometimes compared to the bands Green Day, Boys like girls, Saves the day, All American Rejects, and The Maine, quickly gained a reputation among audiences for their energetic performances and melodically catchy song writing. It’s Not Over’s have been in the rotation of UCLA College Radio and WSIA College Radio for three years. They also released their first full length album in early 2011!

The video above is their BRAND NEW music video for “Sweet Heart Breaker” Ft. Jay Ax!

October: Like The Stars

This 5 piece band resides in New Jersey, I don’t remember exactly how I was introduced to them, I believe it was Bamboozle ’09 & I’m glad I was. They’re honestly one of the most talented groups of people I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Everything about them is amazing, from stage presence / performance to their individual personalities. They appreciate their friends and fans more then anything. Another thing thats great about them is that they don’t hate on other bands, I always run into them at other shows aside from their own. They support their own music scene. So do your ears a favor and listen to them!!
